Birds of Prey Park Umhausen

The Tyrolean Oberland Rescue Centre is your contact for all questions relating to native birds of prey and we take in accidental, injured, sick or orphaned birds of prey from the wild. We provide the birds of prey with medical care and keep them at the rescue centre until they are fully recovered.

"The Umhausen Birds of Prey Park has developed into a centre of excellence for birds of prey in recent years.

In the past, injured birds of prey were repeatedly brought to the Birds of Prey Park. Although it was possible to provide emergency care in co-operation with professionally qualified veterinarians, the structural and personnel requirements for comprehensive care and support until the birds were released back into the wild were lacking.

Together, we have now created the necessary conditions for this. The Birds of Prey Park was expanded with the help of the ‘EU Rural Development Programme’ and with the active support of the province of Tyrol as well as in cooperation with the Tyrolean Hunters' Association and the municipality of Umhausen to include a rescue station for the Tyrolean Oberland and was officially opened at the end of October 2023.

Specifically, a new 100 square metre, flexibly divisible working aviary was built directly behind the existing main building of the Birds of Prey Park in order to be able to keep different species of birds of prey in a species-appropriate manner. A separate treatment centre was set up for the initial treatment and examination of the birds of prey.
